Recently I used a Laptop of my sister-in-law. Who is a Physics Professor and just can't imagine living without it. It is an Acer Travelmate Laptop which really fascinated me a lot and I just couldn't resist wishing to buy one for myself. Maybe I can convince my boss to replace my desktop computer with it. Specially when in this fast changing technological world people are replacing their PC with notepads or Laptops.
Acer is a very established and famous brand both in PCs and laptops. Acer products have received many awards for their looks, performance and design. They have also won some, brand of the year awards too.
Acer Travelmate has a very impressively smart look. It comes with a scratch resistant silver color with black keyboard inside. Loaded with Intel Celeron, 1.6GHz, 400MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache, comes with 15" LCD, 40 GB HDD, It also has a DVD/CD-RW,
The keyboard keys are very responsive and don't require to be pressed hard. The performance is very good even when multiple tasks are held at the same time. Another essential pre-requisite for a good laptop is its toughness which Acer Travelmate definitely has.
The only downside that I came across is that it is slightly heavier to be carried around, otherwise I find Acer Travelmate a really good Laptop to buy one
Did you know that all revenue a review earns monthly is split with the voters that voted for that review each month?
Have you checked it after working for a couple of hours? My experience shows that acer gets extremely hot after working for a couple of hours. and that compells me to shift it from my "lap" top to "desk" top
I have worked for 2/3 hours and didnot feel that..anyways will check that and update my review if i would find the mentioned drawback.thanks for mentioning it
I have an Acer laptop as well, and I am pleased with it; the only problem is that it does get hot very easy, as another commenter has mentioned. The built-in fan then turns on to cool it off, but I still need to be careful.
Acer sounds like it has come a long way. An Acer desktop was my first computer back in 1991. Good computer.
I agree that Acer has really improved over the years - its quite a reliable brand nowadays!
Twity, I opted for Compaq instead of Acer. I wish this would come earlier! Thanks for a great review.
great review!
I like Gateway,but a good honest review

My Acer runs well, except that there appears to be a problem with the CD/DVD drive at the moment...

haha I have an Acer, and all my friends are "MacPeople" so they make fun of me. I like my acer, it was really cheap too, but it does tend to overheat. It's been more reliable than some other laptops I've owned, though: Hasn't crashed on me yet!
Detailed review. Found it useful. thank you. voted
Seems like a very good laptop, thanks for the informative, thorough review.
i had a acer wow it sucked. but it been 2 years so they might be better
great review ...was going to get a acer
Acer laptop is value for money product. If you don't want to spend so much money on a laptop and yet looking for a certain quality level, Acer is the brand to go for.
I've heard of this brand, glad you have a good experience with it.
